Client Bill of Rights
My name is Athanasios Komianos. I can be contacted through my telephone at 2130443821 or my mobile phone 6972805787 or by e-mail.
Education and Training:
I was trained in hypnosis by Hypnovision Educational Training at Athens on December 2000. I am a Certified Member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and I do annual continuing education to maintain my training at a high level. I started my college education at the University of Oklahoma in psychology and graduated from Old Dominion University in sociology in 1985. I am also a member of the Greek Asocciation of Trained Hypnotists, the Earth Association for Regression Therapy (EARTh) and certified by the International Board for Regression Therapy (IBRT).
THE STATE OF GREECE HAS NOT ADOPTED ANY EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING STANDARDS FOR THE PRACTICE OF HYPNOTISM. THIS STATEMENT OF CREDENTIALS IS FOR
INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Under laws that exist in other countries a hypnotherapist may not provide a medical diagnosis or any other type of treatment from a different practitioner, the client may seek services at any time. In the event my services are terminated by a client, the client has a right to coordinated transfer of services to another practitioner. A client has a right to refuse hypnosis services at any time. A client has a right to be free of physical, verbal or sexual abuse. A client has a right to know the expected duration and cost of treatment, and may assert any right without retaliation.
I am a certified member of the Earth Association for Regression Therapy and practice in accordance with its Code of Ethics and Standards. If you ever have a complaint about my services or behavior that I cannot resolve for you personally, you may contact the association to seek redress. Other services than my own may be available to you in the community.
I will not release any information to anyone without a written authorization from you, except as provided for by law. I also should let you know that each and every session we have is recorded on video. You have a right to be allowed to access to my written record about you.
I suggest you think of my services as something that you will pay for personally. That will protect your privacy and help you value the work you are doing more. In general insurance companies do not like to cover hypnotic services and I caution you not to expect them to do so.
Here I will share with you my personal view of hypnosis and its practice. Up to the moment there is no state accredited university degree offered for the study of hypnosis. For one to become a hypnotist he does not have to own a college degree but to learn the art from a certified instructor. He also must have the charisma and talent to make worthy of this training. That is why hypnosis is not a science but an art.
Hypnosis is nothing more than a bypass of the critical and analytical part of the brain in order to establish a focused and selective attention. By doing so, one can reach a relaxed, passive state of body and mind. The frequency of brainwaves is significantly reduced differentiating that way from every day’s stress. At this passive state the mind is more susceptible to suggestions that may change unwanted behavior. On its more active state billions of brain cells are mobilized to the direction we set the motion for. It seems that an automatic “search engine” is set forth to locate the source of our problem. When the human mind enters in these Altered States of Consciousness it is quite possible that it will encounter unusual experiences which may be inconceivable or inexplicable. Moreover, some of these experiences may initially feel unpleasant and even cause discomfort or pain. But we should keep in
mind that in a therapeutic environment such feelings should be expected if not welcome. Armored with the proper perspective, an open mind and a positive stance, the development of the cooperation of the two parties cannot be but fruitful and successful…
By no means do I want to have any dependent clients on me. From the very first session I intend to teach them techniques of self-hypnosis adapted and tailored to their specific needs and goals. But on the other hand I cannot guarantee on the successful outcome of our cooperation for a number of reasons:
1. Because this depends on the degree to which a client can reach sufficient relaxation.
2. Because this may depend on the degree to which a client may be perceptive to suggestions.
3. And foremost, because I take as for granted that every client who comes to me for help, must assume responsibility for his or her betterment of health
